Description

The Benton County Commission on Children and Families (CCF) is the fiscal agent for Benton Together coalition. Benton Together is a sub-committee of the CCF that serves Corvallis, Alsea, Monroe, Philomath, Adair Village, and other rural communities in Benton County. Benton County has a population of approximately 75,000.

The goals of the coalition are to: 1) reduce the use of alcohol, marijuana, and illicit drugs in youth ages 10 to 17 years of age by 20% over a five-year period; and 2) strengthen community collaborations among community members, organizations, and non-profit agencies to prevent and to reduce substance abuse. To achieve these goals, the coalition will implement the following strategies:
1) implement a countywide media campaign;
2) expand mentoring;
3) provide after school art activities;
4) provide training and technical assistance to community members;
5) implement the Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets model;
6) expand culturally competent substance abuse prevention services; and
7) recruit members from underrepresented groups to serve on Benton Together. CA/NCF
