Description

The District Health Department No. Two is the fiscal agent for the Community Health Improvement Partnership. The coalition serves Alcona, Arenac, Iosco, Oscoda, and Ogemaw Counties, a rural area with a population of 87,390. To achieve the two goals of reducing substance abuse among youth and strengthening community antidrug coalitions, this coalition will implement the following strategies:
1) develop the Youth Exercising Alternative Habits (YEAH) Coalition to address substance abuse issues;
2) implement the Minor in Possession (MIP) Diversion program and provide alternative drug-free activities for youth;
3) empower youth to make changes in school policies and community norms about substance abuse;
4) organize Parent Expo activities and networking opportunities, and improve the parental role in student's choices regarding substance abuse and other risky behaviors through communication and relationship building; and
5) form new and maintaining current relationships with local, state and federal agencies to address substance abuse among youth. CA/NCF
