The goal of the Alaska State D.A.R.E. Coordinator Office is to delay or eliminate dramatically the use of tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs and inhalants among Alaska school populations. The new D.A.R.E. curricula incorporate up-to-date evidence and research-based strategies for tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drug prevention among youth. The long term goal is to delay or eliminate dramatically the use of tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, and inhalants.NCA/NCF
The Alaska State Troopers' D.A.R.E. Coordinator's Office will provide programs in schools educating Alaskan youth about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. The goal of the program is to reduce or eliminate the use of these substances by program participants. The D.A.R.E. Coordinator's Office will report on performance measures including an increase by at least 15% in the number of schools with a D.A.R.E. program, decreased levels of substance abuse by Alaskan youth, providing advanced training for at least 50% of D.A.R.E. staff, and establishing guidelines to evaluate and improve the programs, using staff, parent, and participant surveys as part of the process.
