Award Information
Central City Action Committee's Community Youth Empowerment Project (CYEP) will provide a hands-on alternative learning environment for the students enrolled in some of the lowest performing schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). CYEP will institute a homework program for after-school youth, tailoring programming to meet the academic needs of each individual student, and incorporating an on-site garden and computer lab as primary teaching resources. The goal of this program is to reduce the number of youth who are "at-risk" of receiving an inadequate education, those who are overlooked in schools that may become truant. Measurable objectives include an increased number of youth who complete their current academic grade, increased school and youth center attendance and improved students' grades. Central City Action Committee will track progress via in-take assessments for each youth and assessments for each student every two months. The grantee will report their progress to OJJDP in their Categorical Assistance Progress Reports. NCA/NCF
