Award Information
The Barriers Project is a systems change initiative designed to address the barriers to secondary and advanced education/ vocational training for youth in the correctional system in Maine. Targeted youth are between the ages of 12 and 21 and are either detained in a juvenile facility or under the supervision of a juvenile community corrections officer in the field. The project will coordinate activities to address the needs of youth and identify barriers. The project will provide case management services for youth. Additionally the project will implement a FAST( Family and Schools Together)program that will improve school outcomes.The performance measures include the number of successful referrals, improved school behavior and the number of resouces identified.NCA/NCF
