Award Information
The Local Development Corporation of East New York will implement an after-school program targeting East Brooklyn residents between the ages of 14-18, and will provide them with entrepreneurial development, education and work experience. The goal of the program is to provide supportive services to at-risk youth that will guide them away from drugs, alcohol, gangs and juvenile delinquency, and into more positive pursuits, such as, work, college and the development of small business. Objectives include providing 50 participants with entrepreneurial skills, education and work experience over a period of 2 years. 20 youth will participate in a business venture, 15 participants will be placed in an internship or job and 15 will participate in a program leading them to college.
