Award Information
The City of Philadelphia will expand the Youth Violence Reduction Partnership (YVRP), which targets youth at highest risk to 'kill or be killed' through a collaboration between law enforcement and youth-serving agencies and organizations in Philadelphia, to the 22nd Police District. The primary goal is to decrease the rate of increase of district homicides for individuals age 7-24. The project activities include 1) identification of youth at highest risk; 2) intensive surveillance by probation officers and police; 3) implementation of graduated sanctions; 4) referral to community service providers (drug treatment, job training and placement, and educational assistance); and 5) gun suppression through the enforcement of gun laws against targeted offenders.
