Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), and Aftercare for Indiana through Mentoring (AIM) will continue to offer OJJDP specialized expertise in training and technical assistance (TTA) under the umbrella of the Technical Assistance and Training Program for Mentoring System Involved Youth (TATPMSIY). Services to the four OJJDP-funded mentoring demonstration sites will continue to be needs-driven and research-based. TATPMSIY staff will continue to build relationships with the sites as they provide TTA services aimed at building grantees' capacity to implement, refine, and sustain their programs. TATPMSIY proposes to develop two key products to be used by MSIY grantees and all conference participants: (1) the MSIY Implementation Guide and (2) the MSIY Life Plan: A Tool for Mentors and Mentees to Use Together. The guide will cover key topics such as: identifying appropriate staff for MSIY programs; carrying out successful mentor recruitment; developing mentee/mentor retention strategies; building coalitions and partnerships to maintain MSIY programs; designing and implementing effective communications and social marketing strategies; and training design and development.
