Award Information
The Prevention and Safe School Program of the Alief Independent School District provides prevention and intervention services to one of the most culturally diverse districts in Texas. Currently, 69% of Alief ISD students are economically disadvantaged and 34% are Limited English Proficient. Seventy percent of the students qualify for free and reduced lunch. The goals of the program are: to increase teacher knowledge, awareness, and skills of best practices for behavior management strategies; to increase parent knowledge, awareness, and skills of best practices for behavior management strategies and to develop and maintain a safe and orderly environment conducive to student learning. The performance measures for the program will include: number of staff members trained in using the Safe & Civil Schools CHAMP's model; number of youth served in comparison to previous year; number and percent of served youth who offend or reoffend during the grant period compared to number of youth served and number and percent of youth and/or families exhibiting desired change in behavior compared to number of youth served.
