Award Information
Through the Edward Byrne Memorial Congressionally Recommended Awards program, the Office of Justice Programs helps communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and supports training and technical assistance programs and other efforts that strategically target local needs. This program is authorized to organizations identified in the Text and Joint Explanatory Statement, Omnibus Appropriations Act, 2009.
Under this award Putnam County will establish a Children's Advocacy Center in Putnam County to provide forensic medical exams and interviews, advocacy, victim counseling, and system coordination services to child abuse victims and adult victims of sexual assault. Funding will support a full-time Family Victim Advocate Project Coordinator and renovations to a County-owned building that will serve as the permanent home for the CAC; renovations will include walls, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, furnishings and fixtures.
