Through the Edward Byrne Memorial Congressionally Recommended Awards program, the Office of Justice Programs helps communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and supports training and technical assistance programs and other efforts that strategically target local needs. This program is authorized to organizations identified in the Text and Joint Explanatory Statement, Omnibus Appropriations Act, 2009.
The Child Abuse Program at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the central resource for medical care for abused and neglected children in southeastern Virginia. This project will expand access to services for maltreated children by expanding the Child Abuse Pediatrics Fellowship program and establishing benchmarks for a parallel Child Maltreatment Fellowship for post-doctoral residents in Psychology.
