Award Information
Through the Byrne Congressionally Mandated Awards program, the Office of Justice Programs helps communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and supports training and technical assistance programs and other efforts that strategically target local needs. This program is authorized to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010.
The Nez Perce Tribe will utlize OJJDP funding to support the Nez Perce Child Protective Services (CPS) and the Nez Perce Tribe Children's Home (NPTCH). Grant funds will cover salary and fringe for one full-time Child Protection Resource Caseworker for 12 months; travel and registration expenses for two staff to participate in ICWA and NICWA training; and, CPS/NPTCH direct service expenses such as foster care payments, clothing assistance, and cultural activities.
