OJJDP's Demonstration Programs Division Grants were established to provide grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance to organizations. This program is authorized by the Department of Defense and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act, 2011, Pub. L. 112-110.
The Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) of the Annie E. Casey Foundation is the most effective juvenile justice reform effort of our lifetime. The appeal of JDAI continues to expand nationwide. Through a cooperative agreement, OJJDP has endorsed and supported the expansion of JDAI. With the rapid growth and expansion comes the need to provide quality training and support services. Through this award the National Partnership for Juvenile Services (NPJS)provides training logistics and services for four (4) new jurisdictions per year to receive the JDAI cycle of training. The JDAI cycle of training includes: Fundamentals Training, the Risk Assessment Instrument (RAI) Training, the Facility Self-Inspection Training, and the Racial/Ethnic Disparities Reduction (RED) Training. Training logistics includes all activities associated with training preparation, delivery and follow-up. The Annie E. Casey Foundation identifies the JDAI jurisdictions and provides that information to NPJS. NCA/NCF

OJJDP's Demonstration Programs Division Grants were established to provide grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Department of Justice Appropriations Act, 2010 (Pub. L. 111-117) -- H.R. Conf. Rep. No. 111-366.
The Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative (JDAI) of the Annie E. Casey Foundation has shown to be one of the most effective juvenile justice reform efforts of our lifetime. Through a new cooperative agreement, OJJDP has endorsed and supported the expansion of JDAI. One part of this cooperative agreement is a grant to the National Partnership for Juvenile Services (NPJS) to provide additional logistics for the delivery of quality JDAI training programs for new and existing JDAI sites, which are essential elements of any jurisdiction's success. Logistics include training preparation, delivery, and follow-up. Cost analysis, trainer(s) and site coordinator feedback and training participant evaluations will be used to measure the success of project goals. NCA/NCF
