Enforcing the Underage Drinking Laws 2011 Grant; EUDL 11 Project

OJJDP's State and Community Development Awards program was established to provide grants and cooperative agreements to organizations that OJJDP has selected for funds in prior years. This program has been authorized by an Act appropriating funds for the Department of Justice.
The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) plans to reduce underage alcohol consumption through local prevention and enforcement efforts by law enforcement, educational institutions and other nonprofit organizations. Through support from the EUDL Statewide Task Force, the TABC will award contracts with EUDL funds for various projects in underage drinking law enforcement operations, underage drinking prevention campaigns and prevention and enforcement projects that focus on the reduction of underage drinking among youth in Texas. TABC will also provide support for these efforts through its EUDL Campaign Toolkit and training with assistance from the Underage Drinking Enforcement Training Center. Progress on the number of contracts awarded, youth and organizations involved in project activities, and types of projects being implemented will be tracked on a quarterly basis by TABC and reported to OJJDP on the semiannual progress report.
